Joan M. Leonard, 72 of Washington, PA (North Beth Township) passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016 in Presbyterian Senior Care Southmont. 
She was born May 24, 1944 in Brownsville, PA a daughter of the late Theodore and Nellie Caccarozzo Pennesi.
Mrs. Leonard was a 1962 graduate of California Area High School and receive a Bachelors Degree in Education and Masters Degree in Special Education from California University of PA.
She was employed as a teacher for the Allegheny County Intermediate Unit retiring with over 30 years of service.
Joan was a member of PSEA-R and the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority at California University.
She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts and reading.
On December 28, 1970 she married Thomas W. Leonard who survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a sister Adele Pennesi of California, PA. 

Friends will be received in the John B. Greenlee Funeral Home 2830 Main St. Beallsville, PA Monday July 11, 2016 from 11 AM to 1 PM the time of a Blessing Service with Rev. Paul Grunebach officiating. Interment will be in the Beallsville Cemetery.
